3D AutoCAD to PDMS Converter is the tool that serves to convert 3D models from AutoCAD software into the PDMS software.

2. Open the AutoCAD program and open 3D DWG files to be converted to 3D PDMS.

3. Drag and drop files 3dCAD2PDMS.VLX on the command line. By typing commands 3DTOPDMS in AutoCAD it will show a menu of 3D AutoCAD to PDMS Converter.

4. Select the Output File locations which there is a location of PDMS macro result file.

5. Select the conversion quality, High or Low.

6. Click the Convert button to start conversion from 3D solid AutoCAD to a PDMS macro file.

7. Open the PDMS program, and place the CE in ZONE or member of ZONE.

8. Drag & drop files macro conversion results into the PDMS command line, or by typing the command $M /LokasiFile.

Create New SKEY from AutoCAD 2D to PDMS Draft

How to create a new SKEY using AutoCAD 2D and transferred to PDMS Draft? by using this tool, you will be easy to convert 2D AutoCAD to PDMS Isodraft Symbol Template.

1. Open AutoCAD and load ISYMB_CAD2PDMS.VLX in AutoCAD, file can download via download button below.

2. Setting before create SKEY Symbols in AutoCAD.

Type command DDPTYPE,

Change Pointer Size value 1 and select Set Size in Absolute Units.

3.  AutoCAD commands that used :

ISOSYM_ARRIVE: Make a point of arrival based on the flow of isometric drawings.

ISOSYM_LEAVE: Make the exit point based on the flow in isometric drawings.

ISOSYM_TEE: Creating a branching point if a component has more than one point of exit / entry.

ISOSYM_SPINDLE: Make a point where it will be described in the Spindle symbol isometric drawings if needed.

ISOSYMB_PDMS: Generate a file from AutoCAD drawings and ready to be transferred to the PDMS Draft.

4. Create SKEY symbols using AutoCAD.

– Draw a SKEY symbols with AutocCAD object (LINE, CIRCLE, etc.), as an example is a Valve.

– Create ARRIVE, LEAVE (there should be) using the above command, add the TEE or SPINDLE if necessary.

– Explode all objects, by typing X and select all objects that have been created.

5. Save the export to a file.

– Type command ISOSYMB_PDMS in AutoCAD.

– Select all the objects that have been created in AutoCAD, including Leave, Arrive, Tees and Spindle symbols.

– Type name of symbol.

– Enter the file name and stored in the directory.

6. Load the export results file into PDMS Draft.

Using Custom SKEY in PDMS Isometric Drawing

How to use the Custom SKEY in PDMS Isometric drawings :

1. After SKEY file previously created is already completed (eg ISOSYMBOL), save the file in the folder %Samiso%\std\.

to know where the location of the folder by command Q EVAR Samiso.

%Samiso% and folder placement in this tutorial PDMS just as an example, you can put in other directories in accordance with PDMS project you are doing.

2. Open isometric optionfile with notepad, optionfile contained in the folder %Samiso%\std\previewisostd.txt.

If the file does not exist, open the folder %pdmsui%\dflts\std\previewisostd.txt, copy and paste the file in the folder %samiso%\std\previewisostd.txt.

to know where the location of the %pdmsui% folder by command Q EVAR pdmsui.

3. Find and replace the word SymbolFile with SymbolFile /%Samiso%\std\ISOSYMBOL READONLY, save the file. If the word is not found then added the SymbolFile code on optionfile.

4. Make piping components using the SKEY (SKEY we have created is a component VCBB for Double Block and bleeds valve).

5. Select the PIPE and generate isometric drawings, Utilities >> Pipe Isometric… and symbols SKEY already appear.

Create New SKEY for Isometric Drawing in PDMS DRAFT

The following is PDMS tutorial how to create new SKEY, sometimes we as PDMS Admin will need new symbols which is used to show the new components into isometric drawings.

Before creating a new SKEY, much better please click the link below to learn what is SKEY, Abbreviation Often used in PDMS Isometric.

Here’s how to create new SKEY, for example, make a symbol of Double Block and bleeds Valve:

1. Log on in to PDMS Draft, and make sure your user is admin draft. Or by typing the command: DRAFT in PDMS commandline.

2. Go into the draft administration menu by : Draft >> Administration…

3. Select the Symbol Libraries Isodraft by : Draft >> Isodraft Symbol Libraries…

4. Before you make a SKEY Symbol, you must have a hierarchy : LIBY – ISOLB – ISOTM

How to create :

Create >> Library

Create >> Isodraft Symbol Library…

Provide a name for the SKEY Symbol, next is giving SKEY desired code,

5. Draw >> Primitive… to start creating the shape of SKEY Symbol.

Do not forget to create   ARRIVE     LEAVE

6. Once the shape has been made, the next step is to store key symbol in the form of files.

Utilities >> Export Isodraft Symbols…

7. File >> New , select the directory for storage, preferably in isometric option file is saved, and provide a name, eg ISOSYMBOL..

Select ISOLB then select ISOTM / SKEY that we created earlier.

Click the Add button to add SKEY which will be exported to a file.
